Our Heritage
In 1988 English Heritage designated it as a priority on their Buildings at Risk Register (one of the first in the UK).
As an outstanding historical and architectural important Grade I listed building it fitted in with One Events core objective. “The desire to acquire potentially magnificent buildings and turn them into commercially viable venues that support local community”.
Over a period of 3 years we worked with various committees, societies and architects and started refurbishment, including; new electrics, overhauling the heating; French polishing every piece of wood, and in September 2009 the first event was held.
Work has recently (December 2010) commenced on fixing of the roof – a schedule which may take up to a year. The above and future planned works mean that the building will be taken off the Buildings at Risk Register in 2011.
